Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are deeper than we can measure, endless, high beyond compare — there is no one else quite like You.
So here is my one prayer: may I always keep You in my heart, You who give peace.
This one starts with how big the One is and ends with a small, simple prayer.
Too athaahu apaar at oochaa means "You are too deep to measure, without end, and most high." Athaahu means too deep to measure. Apaar means endless. No one else is like You.
Then comes the prayer: ih ardaas hamaaree su-aamee visar naahee sukh-daatay. An ardaas is a prayer. The line asks, "Master, Giver of peace, may I keep You always in mind."
Think of a photo of someone you love on your phone's home screen. You see it every time you pick up the phone. The prayer asks for the One to stay that close.
What is something good you want to always keep close in your mind?
