Raag Soohee, Shabad 79 - A Blessing No One Can Erase

jo tayrai rang raatay su-aamee tinH kaa janam maran dukh naasaa.
Those who are attuned to Your Love, O my Lord and Master, are released from the pains of birth and death.
ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖਸ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
tayree bakhas na maytai ko-ee satgur kaa dilaasaa. ||2||
No one can erase Your Blessings; the True Guru has given me this assurance. ||2||

In plain words

Those whose hearts are dyed in Your love are set free from the ache of coming and going, of loss and change.

And once You have blessed someone, nobody can rub that blessing out. The teaching has promised me this, and I trust it.

A blessing the One gives, no one can ever erase.
The deeper layer

When the One blesses you, no one can ever take that blessing away.

Jo tayrai rang raatay — those who are dyed in Your color. Rang means color, and here it means love. Think of a white T-shirt dipped in bright dye. The color soaks into every thread. Hearts soaked in the One's love are freed from janam maran dukh, the pain of birth and death, of coming and going.

Tayree bakhas na maytai ko-ee — no one can erase Your gift. Satgur kaa dilaasaa — this is the True Guru's promise. Dilaasaa means comfort and reassurance. It is like a hug that says, "It is going to be alright."

A Question to Sit With

What is a good thing in you that no one could ever erase?
