The One has no single shape or face I could paint.
At the very last moment, the One cannot suddenly be remembered all at once.
Remembering the One is a daily practice, not a last-minute rescue.
Guru Nanak is saying: you can't cram remembering the One into the last minute.
Naa tis roop na raykh-i-aa kaa-ee means the One has no shape and no outline. There is nothing to draw.
Ant na saahib simri-aa jaa-ee means that at the very end, the Master can't suddenly be remembered. Think of a big test. You can't learn a whole year of math the night before. Remembering the One works the same way. It is a habit that grows a little every day, across a whole life.
A Question to Sit With
What is something that only works if you practice it a little at a time?
