Too Precious to Buy

kaa-i-aa andar tol tulaavai aapay tolanhaaraa.
Within the body, the Lord estimates the weight; He Himself is the weigher.
ih man ratan javaahar maanak tis kaa mol afaaraa.
This mind is the jewel, the gem, the diamond; it is absolutely priceless.
mol kit hee naam paa-ee-ai naahee naam paa-ee-ai gur beechaaraa. ||5||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, cannot be purchased at any price; the Naam is obtained by contemplating the Guru. ||5||

In plain words

Deep inside, there is a fair measuring going on, and the One doing the weighing is the One I love — nothing about me is overlooked.

And my own mind turns out to be a priceless jewel. Something that precious cannot be bought with money; it opens only through the teaching and quiet reflection.

Your own mind is a priceless jewel — and the best things cannot be bought.
The deeper layer

The Name is too precious to buy with money.

Kaa-i-aa andar tol tulaavai, aapay tolanhaaraa: inside the body, things are weighed, and the One is the one who weighs. Nothing is missed.

Ih man ratan javaahar maanak: this mind is a jewel, a gem, a ruby. Tis kaa mol afaaraa: its value has no end.

Mol kit hee naam paa-ee-ai naahee: the Name cannot be bought at any price. It comes through gur beechaaraa, reflecting on the Guru's teaching.

Think of a friend's love. You cannot pay for it. It only grows through time, trust, and care.

A Question to Sit With

What valuable things in life cannot be bought with money?
