Don't Lose the Thread

ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
so saho sachaa veesrai Dharig jeevan sansaar.
Cursed is the life in this world, of one who forgets her True Husband Lord.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੩॥
nadar karay naa veesrai gurmatee veechaar. ||13||
The Lord grants His Mercy, and she does not forget Him, if she contemplates the Guru's Teachings. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When I lose the thread and forget the One who is most real, my days feel thin and hollow, like something important is missing.

But when grace touches me and I keep turning the teaching over in my heart, that thread stays unbroken — and life stays full.

Keeping the thread to what's real keeps life feeling full.
The deeper layer

so saho sachaa veesrai, dhrig jeevan sansaar — a life that forgets the True One loses its light; the harsher "cursed" of the literal is bent toward this positive framing. nadar karay naa veesrai — by grace, and by contemplating the teaching (gurmatee veechaar), the thread is not lost.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you remember what matters when life gets busy?
