When the Lord shows Mercy unto me, then I meet the True Guru; I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

All I want is one true glimpse of the One I love — just to really see.

And when grace touches me, it leads me to the teaching, and I get to keep that Name in mind, warm and close. The whole ache is really this simple longing to be near.

The deepest longing is simply to be near what you love.
The deeper layer

The Rahau: darsan har daykhan kai taaee — for the sake of one darshan (blessed sight) of the One; kirpaa karahi taa satgur mayleh — when grace comes, it joins one to the teaching and the Name is held in mind. The longing is for nearness, and grace is what opens the door.

A Question to Sit With

When have you longed just to see someone you missed?
