Verse 14 of 33

Out Through the Storm

ਝਖੜੁ ਝਾਗੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
jhakharh jhaagee meehu varsai bhee gur daykhan jaa-ee. ||13||
Even in violent storms and torrential rain, I go out to catch a glimpse of my Guru. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Even when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring down, I'll still head out to be near the wisdom I love.

Nothing rough about the weather is going to keep me from what my heart is set on. That's how much it means to me.

Real longing goes out even through the storm.
The deeper layer

jhakharh jhaagee meehu varsai, bhee gur daykhan jaa-ee — through storm and pouring rain, I still go to see the teaching. The first of several "through any hardship" images (storm, ocean, cold) measuring the strength of longing.

A Question to Sit With

What would you push through bad weather to get to?
