Holding Nothing Back

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਆਪੁ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੪॥
tan man kaat kaat sabh arpee vich agnee aap jalaa-ee. ||4||
I would cut my mind and body apart into pieces, and offer them all to You; I would burn myself in fire. ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I want to offer everything I am to the One — my whole heart, my whole self, nothing kept back for later.

It's the feeling of giving so completely that there's no corner of me left holding out. That kind of wholehearted love is what I long to bring.

Real love holds nothing back.
The deeper layer

tan man kaat kaat sabh arpee — the literal offers body and mind in the most extreme terms. Per the project's wellbeing rules, the graphic self-harm imagery is dropped and the meaning kept: a wholehearted offering that holds nothing back.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to give something your whole heart?
