In plain words

The One is Life itself — kind, and more beautiful than anything I could ever compare it to.

And when I sing what is good and true, the tangles that usually trap me simply come loose, like a knot working itself free.

Singing what is good and true quietly loosens the tangles that trap me.
The deeper layer

The One is life itself, and singing what is good sets us free from what traps us.

Jeevan roop anoop da-i-aalaa — the One is jeevan roop, life in living form. The One is anoop, beautiful beyond compare, and da-i-aalaa, kind.

Ravan gunaa katee-ai jam jaalaa — singing of the One's gun, goodness, cuts the jam jaal, the net of death. That net can stand for the tangle of fear that traps us. Think of a kite string all knotted up. Pull hard, and it gets worse. Work at it gently, and it comes loose. Singing what is good works like that on the heart.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can sing, say, or think that untangles a knot inside you?
