Come, and meet with me, O Saints, and good friends; let us chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Best Friend of my mind. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Be kind to me, O One, so that singing what is good becomes as natural as breathing.

And come, friends — let us do it together. Keeping the Name in mind is even sweeter when it is shared, like the best kind of friendship.

Remembering the One is even sweeter when it is shared.
The deeper layer

Please help me sing Your praises, and come, friends, let's remember the One together.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the song. Paarbarahm prabh kar da-i-aa — Supreme One, please show da-i-aa, kindness and grace. Gun gaavaa tayray nit — so that I may sing of Your goodness every day.

Then comes a warm invitation. Aa-ay milhu sant sajnaa — come, holy friends, come and meet me. Naam japah man mit — let us remember the Naam, the Name, the best mit, friend, of the mind.

Think of friends singing together around a campfire. Each voice gets stronger because the others are singing too. Remembering the One is like that. It becomes shared and joyful.

A Question to Sit With

What good habit is easier and happier when you do it with a friend?
