Set the moment, I say — I too am ready to go home. But the timing is not really mine to pick; it is settled by the flow of life itself, and that cannot be pushed around.
What has been set in motion by the Maker unfolds in its own way; no one can rub it out. And the One who meets me is pure and free, present through all the worlds.
As the heart falls in love with the True One, the old grip of clinging cries out and lets go. Real peace comes through the True Word, when the heart keeps the Teacher close.
A wedding-timing image: baabaa lagan ganaa-ay — calculate the auspicious moment. But Guru Nanak turns it: saahaa hukam rajaa-ay — the true date is set by Hukam, the flow of existence, not by an astrologer. kirat pa-i-aa — what our past has set rolling plays out, yet the Beloved (narah nihkayval, the pure free One) is the honored guest of this wedding. maa-ay niraasee ro-ay — Maya, the pull of clinging, weeps and departs once the heart is truly in love. Peace lands through saach sabad, the True Word.
When has something good happened at a moment you did not choose, but turned out to be just right?
