The Jewel Hidden Inside

man tan amrit bhinnaa.
My mind and body are drenched with Ambrosial Nectar;
antar paraym ratannaa.
deep within the nucleus of my self, is the jewel of the Lord's Love.
antar ratan padaarath mayrai param tat veechaaro.
This invaluable jewel is deep within me; I contemplate the supreme essence of reality.
jant bhaykh too safli-o daataa sir sir dayvanhaaro.
Living beings are mere beggars; You are the Giver of rewards; You are the Giver to each and every being.
too jaan gi-aanee antarjaamee aapay kaaran keenaa.
You are Wise and All-knowing, the Inner-knower; You Yourself created the creation.
sunhu sakhee man mohan mohi-aa tan man amrit bheenaa. ||3||
So listen, O my sisters - the Enticer has enticed my mind. My body and mind are drenched with Nectar. ||3||

In plain words

My whole self feels soaked through with sweetness, and deep in the center of me there is a jewel — the jewel of the One's love.

That priceless jewel was inside me all along; holding it, I touch the deepest truth of things. We living beings come with empty hands; You are the One who gives, handing each of us exactly what we need.

You know everything, even the quiet inside each heart, and You set this whole world in motion. So listen, friends: the Enchanter has charmed my heart, and I am soaked through with sweetness.

The most precious thing is not out there to be won — it is a jewel already resting inside me.
The deeper layer

man tan amrit bhinnaa — mind and body drenched in amrit, the nectar of aliveness. antar ratan padaarath — the priceless jewel deep within: love was never somewhere else to be earned, it is param tat, the supreme reality, already at the core. jant bhaykh too safli-o daataa — creatures come as beggars, empty-handed, and the One is the Giver sir sir, to each and every head. man mohan mohi-aa — the Enchanter (Mohan) has charmed the heart. What draws us is not fear but sheer delight.

A Question to Sit With

What is something valuable you already have that you sometimes forget to notice?
