O Nanak, through the Lord's Name, she is emancipated; through the Guru's Teachings, she meets her Beloved. ||2||

In plain words

When the Friend comes home, the whole heart lifts with delight. Held by the True Word, it fills with joy just to look upon the One.

Wrapped in that love, the old faults lose their grip, and goodness roofs the home like a shelter over everything — the work of the Perfect One who shapes each life.

The small inner thieves that used to rob me are stilled, and now I am at home in myself, weighing things wisely and living fair. Through the Name I am carried across; through the Teacher's wisdom I meet the One I love.

When goodness roofs the heart, the small thieves that used to steal my peace grow quiet.
The deeper layer

avgan maar gunee ghar chhaa-i-aa — the faults are quieted and the home is roofed with virtue: a lovely picture of an inner house made weatherproof by goodness. taskar (thieves) are the inner pulls — grasping, anger, pride — that steal our peace; when they are stilled, the heart vasee panchaa-in, becomes the settled master of its own household, and adal karay, lives with fair judgment. nistaaraa, being carried across, comes raam naam, through the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What are the little inner habits that sometimes steal your calm — and what helps quiet them?
