Loving devotion to the One is what truly bears fruit.
The perfect Teacher gave it to me as a gift of grace. Only a few people know this.
So let us sing the teaching's words together, friends. That singing is always rewarding and full of peace.
Nanak holds the Name in mind, and receives what was written for him from the start.
This one says singing the teaching together is a joy that keeps giving back.
The rahaa-o, the "pause" line, is the center of the shabad: har kee bhagat fal daatee, "loving devotion to the One is what bears fruit." Bhagat means loving devotion.
It comes as a gift. Kirpaa kar deenee: the teacher gave it out of kindness. Kirpaa means grace. And virlai kin hee jaatee: only a few people truly know this.
Then comes a warm invitation: gurbaanee gaavah bhaa-ee, "sing the Guru's words, brothers and sisters." Gurbani means the Guru's words. It is like friends around a campfire, singing a song they all love. Everyone feels closer, and the joy grows. The verse says this singing always rewards you and always brings peace.
What is a song your family or friends love to sing together?
