Meeting the Guru, I Merge in the Sound

ਨਾਦਿ ਸਮਾਇਲੋ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਲੇ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naad samaa-ilo ray satgur bhaytilay dayvaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meeting the Divine True Guru, I merge into the sound current of the Naad. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When I met my true teacher, the shining One, something opened.

I dissolved, gently, into a beautiful inner sound, a music with no beginning and no end, and became part of it.

Meeting the true teacher, the separate self melts into a music without beginning or end.
The deeper layer

This is the rahaao. naad samaa-ilo... satgur bhaytilay dayvaa (meeting the divine Guru, I merge into the Naad, the inner sound-current). The naad is the same unstruck music Kabir named in Shabad 159, here the meeting with the teacher is what dissolves the separate self into it (Haumai dissolving).

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever been so absorbed in music or a moment that you almost forgot yourself?
