I'm so grateful for my teacher.
Peace behind me, peace ahead, a natural ease — my whole inner home is full of quiet joy.
The One who knows every heart, the Maker, is my own.
Holding to the teaching, I've become fearless, leaning on the single Name of the One.
Guru Arjan thanks his Guru and says peace now reaches every direction.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Apunay satgur kai balihaarai: I give my whole self in thanks to my True Guru.
Aagai sukh paachhai sukh: peace ahead and peace behind, peace in this world and in whatever comes next. In the middle is sahaj, an easy, natural calm right now. Ghar aanand hamaarai: my home is full of joy.
Antarjaamee, the One who knows every heart, the Maker, is khasam hamaaraa: my very own.
Nirbha-o bha-ay: I became fearless. How? By leaning on ik raam naam aadhaaraa, the one Name as my only support. This fearlessness isn't about being tough. It's about having nothing left to prove.
Think of lying in your own bed after a long trip. Nothing to guard, nothing to show. Just home.
What does your calmest, most 'at home' feeling actually feel like inside you?
