Your Name, O Transcendent Lord, is Ambrosial Nectar; whoever meditates on it, lives.

One who is blessed with God's Grace - that humble servant becomes immaculate and pure. ||2||

In plain words

Keep the true One in mind, friends — in good company there is a lasting peace, and the One is never once forgotten.

Your Name is sweet as nectar; whoever holds it in mind truly comes alive. Where kindness reaches a person, they grow clear and clean inside.

What you keep in mind is what keeps you alive inside.
The deeper layer

This one says: what you keep in mind keeps you alive inside.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Har saachaa simrahu bhaa-ee: remember the True One, friends. SaaDhsang, good company, is where lasting peace is found. There, har bisar na kabhoo jaa-ee: the One is never forgotten. Remembering becomes natural, not hard work. It's like how you never forget to laugh when you're with your funniest friend.

Then comes a bold line: jo simrai so jeevai. Whoever keeps the One in mind truly lives. Real aliveness depends on what you hold in your heart.

Jis no karam paraapat hovai: the one who receives grace. Karam here means grace, a gift, never something earned. That person becomes nirmal, clear and clean inside.

A Question to Sit With

What do you most want to keep in your mind through an ordinary day?
