ਬਿਘਨ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸਨ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
bighan binaasan sabh dukh naasan gur charnee man laagaa.
Obstacles are removed, and all pains are eliminated; my mind is attached to the Guru's feet.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੩॥
gun gaavat achut abhinaasee an-din har rang jaagaa. ||3||
Singing the Glorious Praises of the immovable and imperishable Lord, one remains awake to the Lord's Love, day and night. ||3||

In plain words

The tangles come undone and every sorrow eases, once the heart quietly holds to the teaching's path.

Singing the praises of the unmoving, undying One, a person stays awake to that love, morning and night.

A heart with a steady anchor stays awake to what it loves.
The deeper layer

This one says: a heart with a steady anchor stays awake to love.

Bighan binaasan sabh dukh naasan: obstacles undone, every sorrow eased. Trouble doesn't always vanish. What changes is this: gur charnee man laagaa, the mind holds to the Guru's feet, a steady anchor. Think of a boat tied to a dock. The waves still come, but the boat doesn't drift away.

Then a lovely phrase: an-din har rang jaagaa. Day and night, awake to the One's love. The One is achut abhinaasee, unmoving and undying. Singing that One's praises keeps the heart turned toward what it loves, whether life is busy or still.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay connected to what matters, even on busy or hard days?
