Says Nanak, forgetting You, O God, how can the world find life? ||2||4||32||

In plain words

The One looks after you always, cares for you day by day, and holds you close with love, like a hug.

If we forgot such a One, how would the world find its life at all?

The One who fills all of existence also holds you close, like a hug.
The deeper layer

The shabad closes on pure tenderness: saar samaalai nit pratipaalai praym sahit gal laavai — the One watches over, sustains daily, and gal laavai — draws you into an embrace. This is the warmest note in the whole run: the vast One of fire-in-wood and light-in-all is also the One who hugs the soul close. The final line — tumray bisrat jagat jeevan kaisay paavai — is not a threat but a wonder: forgetting the very source of life, where would life even come from?

A Question to Sit With

Who holds you close when you need it — and how could you be that for someone else?
