Seeking His Sanctuary, one finds peace, and he shall not suffer in pain again. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, keep the Teacher and the Cherisher of the whole world in your thoughts.

Step into that shelter and you find a peace where the old aches don’t come back to hurt you.

Shelter in the One, and peace has somewhere to stay.
The deeper layer

This is the rahaa-o, the pause-line that is the shabad’s heartbeat — the mind speaking gently to itself: mayray man jap. Its promise, baahurh dookh na ho-ee, is a peace that holds. Sanctuary here is not a place to hide but a settledness that suffering can’t easily reach.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you go — inside or out — when you need to feel safe?
