Sikhism·Raag Sorath·Shabad 87
Verse 3 of 4

Wherever I Look, He Is There

parabh kaati-aa jam kaa faasaa.
God has cut away the noose of death.
man pooran ho-ee aasaa.
My mind's desires have been fulfilled;
jah paykhaa tah so-ee.
wherever I look, He is there.
har parabh bin avar na ko-ee. ||3||
Without the Lord God, there is no other at all. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The tight knot of the fear of dying was loosened, and what my heart wished for came true.

Now wherever I look, I see only the One -- there is nothing else anywhere.

When you truly see the One everywhere, fear has less room to live.
The deeper layer

Jah paykhaa tah so-ee -- wherever the eye lands, the One is there; the vision of oneness (Ik Onkar) becoming a way of seeing, not just believing. The freeing from the faasaa (noose) of death is release from dread, not the end of dying.

A Question to Sit With

Can you look around right now and imagine one same thread running through everything you see?
