Verse 3 of 5

Once Lost, Now Made Clean

naaraa-in paraan aDhaaraa.
The Lord is the support of the breath of life.
ham sant janaaN raynaaraa.
I am the dust of the feet of the Holy people.
patit puneet kar leenay.
I am a sinner, but the Lord made me pure.
kar kirpaa har jas deenay. ||2||
By His Kind Mercy, the Lord blessed me with His Praises. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I sit low, among the dust at the feet of the good-hearted.

Whatever was unclean in me, the One made bright, and filled my mouth with His praise.

No one is too far gone to be made clean and new.
The deeper layer

Patit puneet -- the fallen made pure; the project reads this not as shame but as hope: no one is beyond being made new. Sant janaa raynaaraa -- being the dust of good people's feet, deep humility.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you thought could never be fixed -- and might there be hope for it after all?
