Sikhism·Raag Sorath·Shabad 91
Verse 4 of 5

The Protector Who Never Leaves

paarbarahm karay partipaalaa.
The Supreme Lord God cherishes and nurtures me.
sad jee-a sang rakhvaalaa.
He is always with me, the Protector of my soul.
har din rain keertan gaa-ee-ai.
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises day and night,
bahurh na jonee paa-ee-ai. ||3||
I shall not be consigned to reincarnation again. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One cares for me and raises me up.

He is always with me, guarding my soul, so I sing His praise through day and night, and the restless coming and going ends.

You are guarded more closely and more constantly than you can feel.
The deeper layer

Sad jee-a sang rakhvaalaa -- always with the soul, its guard. Bahurh na jonee paa-ee-ai -- freed from the endless rounds; a heart rooted in the One is no longer tossed from one restless state to the next.

A Question to Sit With

How would you move through a hard day differently if you truly felt guarded the whole time?
