mil saaDhoo durmat kho-ay.
Meeting with the Holy Saints, my evil-mindedness was eradicated.
patit puneet sabh ho-ay.
All the sinners are purified.
raamdaas sarovar naatay.
Bathing in the sacred pool of Guru Ram Das,
sabh laathay paap kamaatay. ||2||
all the sins one has committed are washed away. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Among the good-hearted, my muddled, unkind thinking cleared away.
Whatever was troubled in me came clean, washed as if in a clear, sacred pool.
Cloudy thinking can settle and clear in the right company.
Durmat kho-ay -- durmat is cloudy, harmful thinking; being with good people clears it, like sediment settling out of water. The pool of Ram Das again pictures the cleansing gathering of the good-hearted.
A Question to Sit With
Who helps your thinking get clearer and kinder when it has gotten muddy?
