Please forgive my past actions, God, and place me on Your path for the future. ||2||

In plain words

You are the honor of anyone the world calls worthless; You make the overlooked ones shine. I stand amazed at what You can do.

A child makes a thousand little mistakes; a parent might correct him again and again, and then pull him close in a warm hug. Forgive what is behind me, and set my feet on Your path ahead.

Being corrected and being loved are not opposites -- real love holds both.
The deeper layer

The Rahau plus verse: nimaani-aa too maan -- the honor of the dishonored. The parent-and-child picture is the heart of this shabad: correction and embrace are not opposites; a good parent does both, and the hug always comes.

A Question to Sit With

When someone corrects you and still loves you, how do you know the love is real?
