Becoming kind and compassionate, God the Lord and Master Himself listens to my prayer.

He unites me in Union with the Perfect True Guru, and all the cares and anxieties of my mind are dispelled.

The Lord, Har, Har, has placed the medicine of the Naam into my mouth; servant Nanak abides in peace. ||4||12||62||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When the One grows tender, He Himself listens to my quietest asking.

He joins me to the true teaching, and all my worrying stops. He set the Name on my lips like sweet medicine, and I live in peace.

The deepest asking is often the quietest -- and it is heard.
The deeper layer

Naam avkhad mukh paa-i-aa -- the Name placed in the mouth like medicine (avkhad). The healing image returns: what was asked for in emptiness is answered with a remedy that quiets the anxious mind.

A Question to Sit With

What is a quiet worry you carry that you could gently set down and ask help with?
