You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. What can this poor creature do? ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Your Name is the very life of the world.

The teaching showed me that holding You in mind carries me safely across the wide, stormy sea. You are the One who decides, who listens, who does it all -- Giver and receiver both. What a small, held thing I am beside You.

Feeling small before something vast can be a kind of comfort, not fear.
The deeper layer

The Rahau plus verse: jagjeevan naam -- the Name is the Life of the world. Too aapay daataa aapay bhugtaa -- the One is both Giver and Enjoyer; the human answer is not helplessness but wonder at being held inside something so vast.

A Question to Sit With

When you look up at the stars or the ocean, what does feeling small make you feel?
