Good Words Rinse the Heart Clean

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
gur kai sabad vichahu mail gavaa-ay.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, filth is washed away from within.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
nirmal naam vasai man aa-ay. ||2||
The Immaculate Naam comes to abide within the mind. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Good, true words wash away the muddiness inside,

and a spotless goodness comes to live in your heart.

Filling your heart with good, true words rinses it clean, and something lovely settles in.
The deeper layer

"Through the Shabad, filth is washed away from within; the Immaculate Naam comes to abide." The inner cleaning theme again (as in 1158) — the good words rinse the heart, and something pure moves in to fill the clean space. For a child: filling your heart with good words is how the inside gets clean and something lovely settles in.

A Question to Sit With

What good words could you fill your heart with to feel clean and light inside?
