When the Fearless One Lives in You, Fear Finds No Place

salok mehlaa 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:
bhai vich sabh aakaar hai nirbha-o har jee-o so-ay.
The entire universe is in fear; only the Dear Lord is fearless.

satgur sayvi-ai har man vasai tithai bha-o kaday na ho-ay.
Serving the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind, and then, fear cannot stay there.
Enemies and pain cannot come close, and no one can touch him.
gurmukh man veechaari-aa jo tis bhaavai so ho-ay.
The Gurmukh reflects upon the Lord in his mind; whatever pleases the Lord - that alone comes to pass.

O Nanak, He Himself preserves one's honor; He alone resolves our affairs. ||1||-

In plain words

So much of the world lives with worry and fear — but the good itself is completely fearless.

When the good lives in your heart, fear can't find a place to stay.

Then troubles can't knock you over, and you rest in a larger care.

When the good and fearless One lives in your heart, fear can't find a place to stay.
The deeper layer

A profound Shalok: "the entire universe is in fear; only the Dear Lord is fearless." Fear is everywhere — but the One is nirbhau, without fear. And here's the gift: "serving the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind, and then fear cannot stay there." When fearless goodness moves into your heart, there's no room left for fear. This is one of Sikhism's core promises. For a child: when the good and fearless One lives in your heart, fear can't find a place to stay.

A Question to Sit With

What good, brave thought could you keep in your heart to leave no room for fear?
