In plain words

Someone turned toward the One lives by the true Word and does good deeds.

O Nanak, that person lifts up their whole family and the people close to them.

Becoming a good person is a gift you give your whole family — goodness lifts everyone around you.
The deeper layer

When one person becomes truly good, their whole family is lifted up too.

Gurmukh sabad sach karnee saar: the gurmukh, the person turned toward the One, lives by the True Word and does good deeds. Gurmukh naanak parvaarai saadhaar: such a person, says Nanak, carries their family and relatives across.

Goodness is never only private. Think of a family where one person starts saying thank you at every meal. Soon everyone is doing it. One kind heart changes the whole table.

That is the note this shabad ends on. Becoming a good person is a gift you give your whole family.

A Question to Sit With

How does one person being kind and steady help their whole family feel better?
