In plain words

The essence of the Naam is known as the highest of all.

Without the Naam, pain and death bring suffering.

When your essence meets the great Essence, the mind is content.

The sense of two goes, and you come home to the One.

The breath sounds, and the inner sky thunders.

Nanak says: then, easily, you meet the One who never changes.

When your deepest self meets the Naam, the restlessness ends.
The deeper layer

The Naam is the highest thing there is; when your deepest self meets it, you are home.

Naam tat sabh hee sir, the essence of the Naam is above all. Tato tat milai, essence meeting essence, is like a drop finding the ocean. Gagan, the sky, is the yogis' Tenth Gate (dasam duaar), an inner opening above the body's nine; there the breath rings like thunder. The meeting happens sahjai, in natural ease.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel full in a lasting way, not just for a moment?
