The Hidden Song Revealed

na-o sar subhar dasvai pooray.
By practicing control over the nine gates, one attains perfect control over the Tenth Gate.
tah anhat sunn vajaavah tooray.
There, the unstruck sound current of the absolute Lord vibrates and resounds.
saachai raachay daykh hajooray.
Behold the True Lord ever-present, and merge with Him.
ghat ghat saach rahi-aa bharpooray.
The True Lord is pervading and permeating each and every heart.
guptee banee pargat ho-ay.
The hidden Bani of the Word is revealed.
naanak parakh la-ay sach so-ay. ||53||
O Nanak, the True Lord is revealed and known. ||53||

In plain words

Master the nine gates of the body, and you reach the tenth gate whole.

There the unstruck music of the still One plays and rings.

See the True One right here, and blend with the True One.

The True One fills every heart.

The hidden Word comes into the open.

Nanak says: the True One is seen and known.

There is a quiet music inside that opens up when you grow still enough to hear it.
The deeper layer

When the senses grow quiet, a music with no player sounds inside, and the True One fills every heart.

The body's nine gates are the eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth and the two lower openings; yogis speak of a tenth, the dasam duaar, an inward door. Anhat is the unstruck sound, music made by no hand. Guptee banee pargat, the hidden Word revealed, needs only the stillness to be heard.

A Question to Sit With

What can you only hear when everything else goes quiet?
