Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The wish-granting tree has sprouted and grown.

It is covered with flowers, and its fruits are jewels of every kind.

Singing the praises of the One, I am full and satisfied.

Nanak says: I meditate on the One, Har, Har, Har.

When your heart is rooted in the One, it grows what you need.
The deeper layer

When praise of the One takes root in you, it grows like a tree that gives everything you need.

Birakh jami-o hai paarjaat — the paarjaat tree has sprouted. In the old Indian stories, the paarjaat was a tree in the heavens that granted every wish. Here it grows inside a person.

Fool lagay fal ratan bhaant — it has flowers, and fruits like jewels of every kind. Tripat aghaanay means full and satisfied, the way you feel after a good meal when you want nothing more. That fullness comes from har gunah gaa-ay, singing the One's praises. And Nanak, the servant, keeps repeating the Naam: har har har.

A Question to Sit With

If a tree inside you could grow one thing you need, what would it grow?
