Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Guru gave me the true, sweet nectar, and I drink it in.
With easy calm I have died to my old grabbing self, and now, while still alive, I live.
Please keep me safe as Your own, if it pleases You.
Whoever is Yours melts into You.
When the grabbing self lets go, you begin to live.
Drinking the Guru's nectar, the grasping self dies away, and you begin to live while you are still alive.
Sahj marao jeevat hee jeevao: dying gently while alive, in order to live. The dying is the quiet letting-go of the grasping self (haumai, the feeling of being a separate self), after which life opens up. Tumro hoe so tujheh samaavai: what is Yours merges into You.
A Question to Sit With
What in you could gently let go so you could feel more alive?
