In plain words

Those who turn toward the Guru live in the fourth state, a wide-awake stillness beyond the mind's ups and downs. They come to live in the home of their own inner self.

The Perfect True Guru is kind to them, and they let go of the proud "me" from inside.

Beyond the mind’s ups and downs is a settled home, and grace melts the loud “only me.”
The deeper layer

Grace brings you to a still home inside, where the loud "me" fades.

Chauthee padvee, the "fourth state" (turiya), is an awareness beyond waking, dreaming, and deep sleep, where gurmukhs dwell in nij ghar, their own home within. Poorai satgur kirpaa keenee: the Perfect True Guru shows mercy. Vichahu aap gavaa-i-aa: aap, self-conceit, is lost from within. The ego melts through grace.

A Question to Sit With

What helps the noisy, self-focused part of you quiet down?
