In plain words

When the One comes to mind, I am filled with the greatest joy.

When the One comes to mind, all my pains break apart.

When the One comes to mind, my hopes come true.

When the One comes to mind, sadness finds no place in me.

Remembering what holds you can change how a whole day feels.
The deeper layer

Whenever the One comes to mind, joy comes with it.

Cheet aavai means "when You come to mind." The Guru says it again and again, all through this shabad, like a heartbeat. When the One comes to mind, there is great joy, mahaa anand. Pains break apart. Hopes are met. Sadness can't stay.

Think of walking into your kitchen and smelling your favorite meal cooking. Your whole mood changes in one breath. Nothing outside had to be fixed first. Remembering the One is like that: a change in how you feel inside.

A Question to Sit With

What is a thought that instantly lifts your mood?
