The Perfect Guru has inspired me to love Him. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Deep inside me, the One, my Sovereign King, has come into view.

The Perfect Guru has dyed me in the One's love.

What you are searching for may already be inside you.
The deeper layer

The One is inside you, and the Guru helps you see it and dyes your heart in love.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Antar raam raa-ay pargatay aa-ay means: deep inside, the Sovereign One has shown up. Pargatay means made visible.

Have you ever looked all over the house for your glasses, and then found them on your head? That is the feeling here. What you were hunting for outside was inside the whole time.

Then rang laa-ay: the Guru dyed me in love. Gurbani, the Guru's words, often uses this picture. It is like a shirt dyed so deep that the color never washes out.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you looked all over for, only to find it was close by?
