Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of pain; I behold His Presence deep within, and all around as well. ||2||22||108||

In plain words

I crossed clear over the doubt and fear, and the shadow of endings lifted. One same presence fills every single heart.

Nanak says: I have stepped into the shelter of the One who ends pain. Now I see that Presence deep inside me and everywhere around me too.

The same presence that is inside you is in everyone you meet.
The deeper layer

The same One fills every heart, inside and all around.

Bharam bhai taray — I have crossed over doubt and fear. Chhutay bhai jam kay — the fear of jam, death's messenger, is gone. Put simply, a shadow has lifted.

Why? Ghat ghat ayk rahi-aa bharpooray — the One fills each and every heart. Ghat means a heart or a body. Think of one sun shining in a thousand puddles after the rain. Each puddle holds the same light.

Naanak saran pari-o dukh bhanjan — Nanak takes shelter in the One who breaks pain apart. Antar baahar paykh hajooray — and he sees the One present inside and outside. There is no gap between the two.

A Question to Sit With

How might you treat people differently if the same presence were in each of them?
