In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, enshrine love for the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By great good fortune, a life bears fruit, like a tree heavy with apples.

In the Sangat, love for the One puts down roots and grows.

A life bears fruit when the Sangat lets your love for the One put down roots.
The deeper layer

A life bears fruit when love for the One takes root in the Sangat.

Safal janam hovat vadbhaagee — by great good fortune, a life becomes fruitful. Safal means "with fruit," like a tree heavy with apples.

SaaDhsang raameh liv laagee — in the Sangat, love for the One takes hold. SaaDhsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One.

You cannot force a tree to give fruit. You plant it in good soil and it grows. Think of a seed on a sidewalk and a seed in a garden. Same seed, very different story. Love for the One grows the same way. The Sangat is the soil.

A Question to Sit With

What helps something good in you grow — being alone, or being with the right people?
