The One Who Lifts the Low

ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ਕਰੈ ਨੀਚ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪੈ ॥
oochay tay neechaa karai neech khin meh thaapai.
The high, He makes low, and the low, he elevates in an instant.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
keemat kahee na jaa-ee-ai thaakur partaapai. ||2||
The value of the glory of our Lord and Master cannot be estimated. ||2||

In plain words

In a single moment the One can lift someone the world called small and set them high.

The greatness behind this is so vast that no one can put a price or a measure on it.

The One who made you does not measure you the way the world does.
The deeper layer

The One turns the world's ranking upside down.

Oochay tay neechaa karai, neech khin meh thaapai: the One can bring the high low, and lift the low up in a single moment. Think of the kid who always gets picked last for teams. In the One's eyes, that kid can stand as tall as anyone. No one is stuck at the bottom for good.

This leveling spirit is at the heart of Gurbani, the Guru's words. And keemat kahee na jaa-ee-ai: the One's greatness is beyond any price tag.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever seen someone lifted up who others had counted out?
