No Fear at All

ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sat bachan naanak kahai pargat sabh maahi.
Nanak speaks the true words, which are obvious to all.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੬॥
parabh kay sayvak saran parabh tin ka-o bha-o naahi. ||4||26||56||
God's servants are under God's Protection; they have absolutely no fear. ||4||26||56||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says these true words, plain for everyone to see.

Those who take shelter with the One live without fear — nothing frightening has any hold on them.

A heart that has found its shelter has little room left for fear.
The deeper layer

Those who live in the One's shelter are free of fear. Sat bachan naanak kahai pargat sabh maahi — Nanak speaks true words, plain for everyone to see.

Then: prabh kay sayvak saran prabh tin ka-o bha-o naahi — God's servants live in God's shelter, and they have no fear at all. In Sikh teaching the One is called Nirbhau, the Fearless One. Those who stay close begin to share that.

Think of a small child walking down a dark hall, holding a parent's hand. The hall is just as dark, but the fear is gone. The shabad closes on a heart with no room left for fear.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel brave when you are afraid?
