In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

I tried so many things to feel better, running from one fix to the next.

Then I set them all down and simply held the One in mind — like taking the one medicine that works.

The fever of worry cooled, and my mind went quiet and easy.

Set the quick fixes down, and the one thing that heals is closer than you think.
The deeper layer

The Name is the medicine that helps.

The shabad opens with the short blessing ik-onkaar satgur parsaad: there is One Creator, known by the true Guru's grace. Then: avar upaav sabh ti-aagi-aa, I put down every other fix. Daaroo naam la-i-aa: I took the Name as my medicine. Think of trying one thing after another to calm down, then simply sitting quietly with someone you love.

The next line tells what happened. Taap paap sabh mitay: fevers and wrongdoing cleared away. Rog seetal man bha-i-aa: the aches eased, and the mind grew cool and calm.

A Question to Sit With

When you stop chasing quick fixes, what settles you?
