Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have met the perfect True Guru, who has arranged all of this.

The Guru gave me the Naam of the One as medicine, and my love is fixed on the One alone.

One love, held steady, works like medicine.
The deeper layer

The Guru gives the Naam as medicine, and love rests on the One.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad.

Satgur pooraa bhayti-aa jin banat banaa-ee means "I met the perfect True Guru, who arranged all of this." The Guru is the One who set up the circle of safety in the lines around it.

Raam naam a-ukhadh dee-aa means the Guru gave the Name as a-ukhadh, medicine. Aykaa liv laa-ee means love is fixed on the One. Liv means steady, loving attention.

Think of how a good doctor does not just stop the fever. They help you get strong again. The Name works like that. It heals, and it also keeps the heart pointed at the One.

A Question to Sit With

What is the one thing you would most want to hold your love steady on?
