O Nanak, when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then, night and day, one centers his meditation on the Lord. ||2||

Mind, listen to the teaching, and you'll gain the treasure of goodness.
The Giver of peace will live in you, and ego and pride will go. Nanak says: when the One's grace falls, then day and night the mind rests on the One.
You don't purge your pride first and then earn the good — the good moves in, and the pride is displaced.
A short Shalok: listening to the teaching yields "the treasure of virtue," and the Giver's indwelling drives out "egotism and pride." Note the order — the good moves in, and the pride moves out; you don't first purge pride and then earn the good, you receive the good and the pride is displaced. Grace initiates; virtue follows.
A Question to Sit With
What good, if it truly moved into your heart, would naturally crowd out a pride you carry?
