Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

It is so hard to meet the Lord of the World, my Master.

Your form has no measure. No one can reach You, and no mind can grasp You — and You fill everything, everywhere.

The One who seems far beyond us is also nearer than everything.
The deeper layer

The One is beyond every measure, and the One is also everywhere.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Gobind thaakur milan duraa-een: meeting the Lord of the World, the Master, is hard. Parmit roop agamm agochar: a form beyond measure, beyond reach, beyond the senses. Rahi-o sarab samaa-ee: and that same One fills everything. Think of the air around you. You cannot hold it in your hand or see where it ends, yet it is in every breath you take.

A Question to Sit With

Can something feel both mysterious and close at the same time? When?
