Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O mind, sing and remember the One — Raam, Raam.

The One has no shape and no outline you could draw, and is great beyond all.

Join the Sangat and sing and remember the One together.

This is the high, bright fortune written on your forehead.

The greatest thing of all is something you cannot draw or picture.
The deeper layer

The One has no shape you could draw, and you remember the One best together with others.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Roop na raykh: no form, no outline. The One is too vast to be pictured, the way you can feel the wind but never draw it. Satsangat mil bhaj raam: join the satsangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — and sing. Bad bhaag mathaam means great fortune on the forehead, an old way of saying a gift was meant for you.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of something important that has no shape you could draw?
