Pride Washed Away, Oneness Shows

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਗਰਬੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
parabh daanaa beenaa garab gavaa-ay.
God is wise and all-knowing; He purges men of their pride.
ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟੈ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
doojaa maytai ayk dikhaa-ay.
Eradicating duality, the One Lord reveals Himself.
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
aasaa maahi niraalam jonee akul niranjan gaa-i-aa. ||14||
Such a being remains unattached amidst hope, singing the Praise of the Immaculate Lord, who has no ancestry. ||14||

In plain words

The wise One gently washes away our pride.

When the sense of me against everything dissolves, the one One shines through.

Living in hope yet unshaken, the heart sings the praise of the One who has no family line and belongs to no rank.

When pride quiets, the oneness underneath everything shows through.
The deeper layer

The wise One washes away our pride, and then oneness shows through.

Prabh daanaa beenaa — the One is wise and sees everything. Garab gavaa-ay — the One takes away pride. Doojaa maytai — the One wipes out the "second," the split of me against everything. Then ayk dikhaa-ay — the One shows the One.

Think of fog on a window. When it clears, you see the whole garden was there all along.

Such a person lives among hopes but stays untouched by them. They sing of the One who is akul, without a family line. The One belongs to no clan and no rank. That is a note of equality. Nobody is born closer to the One than anybody else.
