The Body-Village

ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਊਤਮ ਥਾਨਾ ॥
dayhee nagree ootam thaanaa.
In the body-village, the most sublime place,
ਪੰਚ ਲੋਕ ਵਸਹਿ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥

the supremely noble people dwell.

Above them is the Immaculate Lord, the One Universal Creator; they are lovingly absorbed in the profound, primal state of Samaadhi. ||3||

In plain words

Inside the little village of this body is the most beautiful place of all.

There the noblest, gentlest thoughts can live.

And above them all is the spotless One, the single Maker; the heart that loves deeply sinks into a calm, deep stillness.

The most beautiful place in the world is a quiet corner inside you.
The deeper layer

The body-village (dayhee nagree) is inner geography: the loveliest place is a quiet corner within. Sunn samaadh is a calm, deep stillness, the state of a heart absorbed in love.

A Question to Sit With

What does a calm, still moment feel like for you?
