ਦੁਖ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
dukh bhai bhanjan parabh abhinaasee.
God is eternal and imperishable; He is the Destroyer of pain and fear.
ਰੋਗ ਕਟੇ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
rog katay kaatee jam faasee.
He cures the disease, and cuts away the noose of death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
naanak har parabh so bha-o bhanjan gur mili-ai har parabh paa-i-aa. ||10||
O Nanak, the Lord God is the Destroyer of fear; meeting the Guru, the Lord God is found. ||10||

The One lasts forever and never fades; it takes away pain and fear.
It heals the deep sickness and unties the tight knot of the fear of death.
Nanak says: the One is the ender of fear itself, and meeting the Guru, the One is found.
The One's presence quietly unties the knot of fear.
Kaatee jam faasee: the noose of death is cut. The tight knot of the fear of death comes untied, and comfort takes its place. The One is bhai bhanjan, the ender of fear, and a healer of the deepest sickness.
