A Good Name in Every Age

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
gurmukh naam pargatee hai so-ay.
The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, and his good reputation increases.

In all four ages he is considered to be pure and good.

naamay naam ratay sukh paa-i-aa naam rahi-aa liv laa-ee hay. ||11||
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. He remains lovingly focused on the Naam. ||11||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The one who turns toward the Guru receives the Naam, and their good name grows. In all four ages, people see them as pure and good.

Soaked in the Naam, they find peace, and they stay lovingly turned toward the Naam.

Goodness that comes from the Name does not go out of style.
The deeper layer

chahu jug nirmal — pure across all four ages, a goodness that does not go out of date. nirmal means clean, unstained. liv laaee is loving, steady focus — the mind resting on the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of goodness do you think never goes out of style?
